My treasure box

By Mimi

I will put in my box
A blazing feather of a phoenix,
A ribbon made of the colours of rainbows,
The golden horn of a unicorn.

I will put in my box
The sound of the rustling leaves in a damp rainforest,
The smell of paint as it splashes on a shiny canvas,
The feel of the warm silky fur of a month-old puppy.

I will put in my box
The rushing colours of the wind,
A lightning storm, crashing thunder from the sky,
The cherry colour of sunrise and sunset.

I will put in my box
A million shards of violet-flavoured candy,
A runny yolk of an egg and the crisp sides of bacon on a plate,
A bowl full of fresh berries and whipped cream.

My box is carved out of the oldest oak wood,
The lock is made of jade coloured dragon eye stones,
The hinges are fashioned out of delicate autumn-brown pebbles,
The key is made out of dreams and is shaped like a cerulean-coloured dragon,
Nobody knows that at night it comes alive and guards my small chest.

I shall sometimes step into my box,
Inside, it is always night,
A silhouette of a grey wolf howling at the blue corn moon,
A field of glowing fuchsia and indigo orchids,
Tiny dragons with wings of rainbow hues, singing and humming a beautiful lullaby to each other,
And a giant peach tree, the blossoms swaying in the cool breeze.

My Sun Dragon

My dragon is a sun dragon.
She is made from the sun and stars.
She is celestial-white. All night
She sleeps softly on the roof, waiting for the day.

Her wings are tipped with the brightest gold.
Her tail is silvery-grey.
Her eyes are like a million blazing suns.
Her breath is like a flame that never runs out.

She only eats the liquid of suns,
The molten juice that you can only get
From the very centre of stars.

She drinks it slowly, savouring the intensity.

Dragons Fighting

Dragons' fights are deathly,
One firing flames hotter than ovens
The other breathing icy wind that you will only find in Antarctica.
And slashing claws hit each other
Knocking stone pillars as they crash
Creating major earthquakes
Other dragons fleeing into their caves.

Christmas Poem

Snow covers the city like a big white blanket.
Adults rush into their warm and cozy houses,
Eating rich and delightful stew
Giving a satisfied smile.
While the children jump out and make snow angels and have snowball fights for fun,
But night falls quickly and soon it is time for bed.
The children are tired from playing and are swaying after dinner.
The parents tuck them and called it a day.
The kids are awake, hoping to meet Santa.
But eventually they fall asleep and Father Christmas can come in peace.
A tinkling can be heard and here comes Santa with
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and Rudolph, his nine reindeer.
He secretly goes down the chiminey and delivers the presents silently.
Then he climbs up and rides to another house.
And at last Christmas day is here!

Forest Poem

A huge lush forest,
With peach and cherry blossoms
The shy woodland creatures hiding behind trees,
A big stream full of cool water heading for the sea.
Look!
A gentle deer, quietly walking towards the stream to drink.
The forest pinecones fall to the ground with a plop!
In the middle of the forest, wood nymphs dancing with satyrs, the great Pan playing the flute,
A dozen animals watching contentedly.
All that inside a simple but beautiful forest!

Ocean Poem

The beautiful wide ocean,
Controlled by Poseidon, the god of the sea.
Making unexpected movements,
Like water nymphs, dancing ballet while gliding on the waves
Whoosh! There goes one!

Dream Poem

Mysterious things, dreams.
Floating dreamily around us,
Either good or bad,
Invisible to human eyes,
Dancing above us when we sleep...

Space Poem

The endless space
Waiting for something to happen
With only the stars, planets and moons for company.
Dark with no air and gravity,
Though you are strange,
You will always be with us.

Dew Haiku

Fresh wet morning dew,
On curled plants and spider's webs
It drips to the ground.
